The J2 Hackathon

Build anything in J2 — a tool, a script, a full project. Registration closes September 5, 11:59 PM IST; projects are then due mid-to-late September (exact date tentative, announced by email). First place wins a MacBook Air M5.

What you can build

  • Anything. A command-line tool, a script that automates something you do weekly, a game, a data cruncher — if it runs under j2 run or j2 build, it qualifies.
  • Conversions welcome. You can take an existing project of yours in another language and convert it to J2.
  • AI allowed. You are free to use the site's built-in AI Helper to understand, write, and convert J2 code. It has read the entire documentation.

The prize

First place wins a MacBook Air M5. Entries are judged on what they do, how idiomatic the J2 is, and how well they use what the language offers.

How it works

  1. Register above with your email by September 5, 11:59 PM IST — that is the registration deadline, not the submission deadline.
  2. You will receive a confirmation email with the submission instructions.
  3. Build your project in J2 and put it in a GitHub repository.
  4. Submit by emailing your repository link to the address given in the confirmation email. Submissions are due mid-to-late September; the exact date is tentative and will be confirmed by email before then.
